2.4 Users are aware of links that open in a new window
When a link opens in a new window it's relatively easy for a sighted user to see it has happened. For a user of a screen reader they will not see this visual cue however. Because of this it can be confusing as to where the newly opened information is and how to get back to the previous page.
Details
- Visually hidden text is added to the label of all links that open in a new window that says "Opens in a new window".
- Whenever possible we highly advise using a popup icon. This will allow all users to know in advance.
