Not all of our users will have the ability to see and process visual characteristics. Because of that, if we provide information using visual characteristics such as shape or location these users will not be able to locate the element being referenced. Providing that information using visual cues can be very helpful to a lot of users, we just need to also provide it in other ways as well, such as text labels.
