5.5 Information and instructions do not rely on visual characteristics
Not all of our users will have the ability to see and process visual characteristics. Because of that, if we provide information using visual characteristics such as shape or location these users will not be able to locate the element being referenced. Providing that information using visual cues can be very helpful to a lot of users, we just need to also provide it in other ways as well, such as text labels.

- Information is never provided solely with visual cues such as shape, size, visual location, or orientation.
- The words "above" and "below" are allowed when the content is in the appropriate place in the reading order.
